Salam zangu za siku ya Wanawake Duniani

Salam zangu za siku ya Wanawake Duniani

Ninawatakia wanawake wenzangu‎ Ulimwenguni kote, Heri ya Siku ya Mwakamke

a7caeb96fbdcd21385508290de4f359f“Wanawake Tunapashwa Kuona Jinsia yetu kama rasilimali na sio Dhima”. ( Women should view their gender as a resource rather than a liability) – MJ

Happy Women’s Day 2016.

Monica Joseph

Women empowerment strategies‏

HE government has pledged to work closely with stakeholders in the private sector to realise initiatives aimed at empowering women.
Stella Manyanya

Deputy Minister for Education, Science, Technology and Vocational Training Eng Stella Manyanya said in Dar es Salaam yesterday at an event to mark the commemoration of CRDB Bank International Women Day that the government recognises bank’s efforts to support women empowerment programmes.

During the event, CRDB Bank donated 20m/- to the Tanzania Education Authority (TEA) for the construction of girls’ dormitories across the country, an initiative seen to create conducive learning environment in a bid to promote the quality of education.

“Through its various products and services CRDB Bank has been playing the fundamental role in empowering and realising women dreams in life,” she said and urged other institutions to emulate the bank’s example.

Eng Manyanya said the International Women’s Day is an opportunity to look at how far all the stakeholders have come in delivering gender equality.

It is also a chance to consider the best ways to continue toward true parity the 2016 theme call upon on How to Pledge for Parity in the workplace, she said.

She challenged women to make effective use of the opportunities from financial services to access loans to start and expand their businesses to contribute to economic growth.

On her part, the CRDB Bank Deputy Managing Director Ms Esther Kitoka said in recognition of the CRDB Bank’s International Women Day, some counters will be set aside in all its branches to serve women only.

She said promoting gender balance and equality is given top priority with women employed by the CRDB Bank constituting 44 per cent of the total number of employees. The bank is a home for more than two million employees.

“Women should make use of the Women Access to Finance Initiative (WAFI) and MALKIA account to access various financial products and services in order to realise their dreams in life,” she said.

TIC hailed for being shining example in Africa‏

TANZANIA Investment Centre (TIC) has been hailed for promoting investment in industries leading to development of a diversified and robust manufacturing sector.

SADC Investment Promotion Agency officers, who were in the country last week commended the investment centre for particularly promoting investments in industries that use modern technology to boost productivity.

In their visit to Serengeti Breweries Limited and Bakhresa after their two-day meeting, the officers said Tanzania had made important strides in attracting investments which use modern technology in food and beverage sectors which has made Tanzania as an exemplary country in sub-saharan Africa.

At Serengeti they saw modern production technology in brewing process where the General Manager, Helen Weesie, said Serengeti focused on quality and safety.

Serengeti Breweries Ltd (SBL) operates exclusively in Tanzania and is the 2nd largest beer company with a market share of about 25 per cent.

At Bakhresa industries, they were amused with the state-of-the-art of the factories in food and beverages and some were heard complaining why did the local investor, Said Salim Bakhersa choose to invest in a few countries only after they were told it had opened investmements in Malawi, Zambia, Rwanda and DR Congo.

They said such a successful investor, should be encouraged to invest in all SADC region.

Chief Executive Officer of Bakhresa industries, Mr Salim Aziz, hailed TIC for facilitating establishment of Bakhresa industries through investment incentives which have enabled Bakhresa investments in industries to become a success story.

TIC Investment Promotion Officer, Ms Lilian Mwamdanga, said the objective of the tour was to show SADC officials what Tanzania has accomplished so that they can learn and exchange experience.

She said it would reach time where TIC officials would travel to other SADC member countries to learn about their experiences in promotion of investments.

The Deputy Director for Industries in the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Dr John Mboya, said the two-day meeting was successful where SADC member states were so much attracted by investment promotion by TIC.

Tanzania is among top earners of foreign direct investments in the sub-Saharan Africa.
